LINEZOLID 600MG Tablets

Linezolid is an antibacterial medication available in tablet, oral liquid, and injectable forms. It belongs to the oxazolidinone class, which is a newer group of antibiotics and is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria. Linezolid is typically used to treat conditions such as pneumonia and skin infections.

Linezolid tablets work by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. However, it is important to note that, like all antibiotics, Linezolid is effective only against bacterial infections, not viral ones, and therefore should not be used to treat colds, flu, or other viral illnesses. It is prescribed for serious infections, such as pneumonia, or a severe lung infection, especially when other antibiotics have failed to work. When used for short durations, Linezolid is considered a safe antibiotic and can be administered to patients of all ages.

Direction For Use

Take this medication in an appropriate dose as prescribed by your pharmacist or doctor. For the best results, take the exact dose in a specific time interval. Side Effects of Linezolid Tablets

Sometimes, you may observe some common side effects such as metallic taste, diarrhoea, nausea, thrush (fungal infection), headache, constipation, vomiting, dizziness, and indigestion. Most of these common side effects do not need any individual or medical attention and will disappear gradually over time. However, you are advised to inform your pharmacist or doctor if you observe these side effects persistently or for a long time. 

Precautions To Be Taken

Linezolid should not be used to treat infections caused by catheters. It may have an impact on bone marrow, so weekly blood tests are recommended. If bone marrow suppression occurs, the treatment may need to be stopped. Patients taking antidepressants should avoid Linezolid, as it can interact with medications like fluoxetine, amitriptyline, paroxetine, nortriptyline, or bupropion. Pain relievers such as methadone, tramadol, and meperidine should also be avoided. Additionally, Linezolid is contraindicated with drugs like cyclobenzaprine and mirtazapine, which may raise serotonin levels, potentially leading to confusion, high blood pressure, acid-related issues, and even fatal outcomes.
