Moxifloxacin and Ketorolac Tromethamine Ophthalmic Solution is a combination of two medications: Moxifloxacin, an antibiotic, and Ketorolac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Moxifloxacin is part of the quinolone antibiotics class and works by killing bacteria. It does this by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair. Ketorolac, the NSAID component, blocks cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins (PGs) chemicals that trigger pain and inflammation at injury sites. By inhibiting COX, the production of PGs decreases, reducing pain and swelling at the site of infection.

Moxifloxacin and Ketorolac Tromethamine Ophthalmic Solution is an eye medication used to treat and prevent bacterial infections and alleviate itchy eyes due to seasonal allergies. It also helps reduce swelling, pain, and discomfort, such as burning or stinging, following cataract or corneal refractive surgery. Bacterial eye infections occur when bacteria affect any part of the eye, including the cornea (the clear front layer) or the conjunctiva (the thin membrane covering the outer eye and inner eyelids).
